March 23, 2010: Getting Started with EE
Meeting space confirmed! Officially announcing the second BostonEErs meetup.
We’ll be talking about how to get started with ExpressionEngine. For those who have used other content management systems before and/or aren’t quite sure how to dive in to EE, bring your questions! For those who work with EE every day, bring your best practices so we can all learn from you!
Format: I’ll kick off an informal group discussion by sharing my experience with integrating ExpressionEngine into a recent project, and then open up the floor for questions and conversation.
The venue has free wifi and our room will have an overhead projector, so bring your laptop if you’d like to show off any of your work.
On the subject of parking, Microsoft has this to say: “Limited parking for external guests is available in the building of One Memorial Drive. Daily parking is a flat rate of $27 and evening/weekend parking is $10. Public transportation is encouraged. On the MBTA, take the Red Line to the Kendall Square/MIT stop. Below is a listing of additional parking garages in the area: Standard Parking, 1 Broadway, Cambridge, MA // Central Parking Systems, 10 Cambridge Center, Cambridge, MA // Standard Parking, 241 1st Street, Cambridge, MA”
Thanks everyone, and hope to see you there!
May 5, 2010: EE Add-on Essentials
Thanks for your patience, all! Announcing the next BostonEErs meetup: EE Add-on Essentials, a show and tell of plugins, modules, extensions, and accessories that folks find indispensable.
I’ll give a short talk about the ExpressionEngine third-party ecosystem, and then open up the floor for folks to show off the tools they use to help get the job done. When you RSVP, let us know what add-ons you’d like to talk about, or what types of add-ons you’d be interested in hearing about.
To finish up, someone with EE add-on development experience will discuss how to start developing your own add-on. (Is this you? Shoot me an email.)
Big thanks to Booyant, Inc. for pizza, and thanks to GLAD for hosting us. Hope to see you all there!
June 15, 2010: All About EE 2.0
Wondering what’s new in EE2? Not sure whether to use 1.6.8 or 2.0 on a new project? Not sure whether—or how—to upgrade from 1.6.8 to 2.0? Come join us for this meetup, and bring your questions.
We’ll hear from some people who have built EE2 sites, and from someone who has converted an EE 1.6 site into an EE2 site and lived to tell the tale. (Just kidding - it wasn’t that bad.)
As always, thanks to our sponsors for keeping us well-fed, and thanks to Microsoft for hosting.
July 14, 2010: EE Summer Hackfest
Bring your laptop, your EE project, your bizarre bugs, and your burning questions to this one-night hackfest & work session. Newbies welcome!
Take advantage of the summer lull to get ahead on that side project, or clear up those niggling EE-related questions.
We’ll provide the outlets, table space, a projector screen, pizza, beer, and geeky conversation. Hope to see you there!
